ABOUT US
JAMES W. CARLSON (PhD)
PASTOR
I was born and raised in South Bend, IN. I did not know the Lord growing up. I became a Christian when I was 20 years old. It was in the Fall of 1994. I was a sophmore in college at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. It was a time in my life when I was depressed and was contemplating the biggest questions of life. Questions such as: Why am I here? What is my purpose in life? Is there a God? Why is there death and is there life after death? The problem of death especially vexed my soul. I came to believe then, and still heartily proclaim today, that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the only remedy for death. Jesus died on the cross for my sins and was raised from the dead so that I might have everlasting life (1 Cor 15:1-4). I got saved in the Fall of 1994. I didn't deserve it, and I still don't, and I never will. My life verse is 1 Corinthians 15:10, "I am what I am by the grace of God."
I am married to my beautiful wife, Katherine Rose. She is a lovely person, outside and in (cf. 1 Peter 3:4). We got married on March 17, 2007 (on Saint Patrick's Day). We have two beautiful boys, Jamie and Nathanael, the loves of my life. I am so blessed.
I am committed to teaching and preaching the Bible, God's Word (2 Tim 4:1-4). I am committed to preaching the gospel and equpping God's people to share the gospel and to making disciples in the church in fulfillment of the Great Commission (Matt 28:18-20) . God called me to CCC on April 1, 2017. I guess I am destined to be a fool for Christ (cf. 1 Cor 4:10).
It is my desire and prayer that all who come to Clearfield Community Church will be changed by God's amazing grace. To the Triune God be the glory forever!
JAILYN SMITH
WORSHIP LEADER
Jailyn grew up in a Christian home with strong Bible-believing values and became a follower of Jesus at age 7. She resonates deeply with the stanza “no one ever cared for me like Jesus” and she strives to love and serve the Lord with all her heart, mind, soul, and strength.
Jailyn married Nicholas Judson Dale Smith (known by those close to him as Nick) on May 6th, 2017 and by the Lord’s good grace they have been blessed with 3 children (1 is in Heaven) whom they love dearly. They pray to raise their little ones to love Jesus and follow His commands. They also have a mini goldendoodle called Ruby. Jailyn and Nick have been members of CCC since 2016.
Jailyn has loved music all her life and loves to praise her Abba by singing. She has been afforded opportunities to do musical theatre, sing in choir, harmonize on worship teams, and now she is humbled and excited to be the worship leader at CCC. Her favorite passage of scripture is Psalm 139; she considers it marvelous that God knew us even before we were being knitted together in our mother’s womb. Her solemn prayer is that she can learn to know God more and that her unbelieving family and friends would realize how amazing He is.

There she found a heart for bringing Children and Youth to God. 3 John 1:4 is a life verse: "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth."
BARBARA CORRIGAN
ASSISTANT TREASURER
Barbara was born in Whittier, California and grew up in a "Protestant" home. Her mother had been raised Catholic, and her father a Protestant. In her early years, church was attended by her family mostly on holidays. The church of her youth was a "Friends" church, where she did learn about Jesus. She recalls when the church showed "The Greatest Story Ever Told". It made a huge impression on her as a child. In fact, when she was about seven years old, after years in a home with seven children, and an alcoholic father, she went on a serious search for God. She got up one Sunday morning and walked for what seemed like miles to a church she'd passed many times when in the car with her mom. That started a quest to find where she "fit in" and could attend regulary. She knew Jesus was the answer to what she saw as a very painful world. When the movie "A Thief in the Night" came out, she saw it with her youth group at her Methodist Church. That was it! No more searching. She was forever and deeply in love with Jesus and wanted nothing else but for Him to be Lord of her life. She had attended many churches, Methodist, Lutheran, Non-denominational, and even a very short stint seeing what Mormonism was all about. She attended Azusa Pacific University majoring in Christian education. She sang in every choir she could. She even worked as the cantor for her husband's Catholic church. But it always came back to Jesus. Just Jesus. She graduated from college with several degrees and has had several careers. Behind it all, has been the purpose of getting to know, love and help the people with or for whom she worked. Barbara was married for decades to her first husband, had 3 children, and "inherited" four from his first marriage (his wife passed away). She is now married to the second love of her life, David, and the two share music and their deep love for Jesus.
